BTN’s 2022 Airline Survey: Delta Makes It A Dozen (Source: Business Travel News)
For an unprecedented 12th year in a row, Delta Air Lines took the top spot in BTN’s annual Airline Survey, continuing to earn accolades from corporate travel buyers. Notably, for the first time since 2014, Southwest Airlines soared into second after seven years in fourth. Still, overall ratings for the three largest carriers dropped from 2021 across each criterium, and some buyer sentiment was mixed.

Newark Airport Unveils The New Terminal A (Source: Travel Weekly)
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and N.J. Gov. Phil Murphy did a ribbon-cutting on the new Terminal A at Newark Airport on Tuesday.  The terminal will open to passengers on Dec. 8. Twenty-one of the terminal’s 33 gates will open right away, and the remaining 12 will open in 2023.

Millions of Americans plan to travel this holiday season.  Nearly 25 million passengers are expected to depart on flights from U.S. airports over the Thanksgiving travel week, from Nov. 20 to Nov. 27.  This is a 6% increase in capacity compared to 2019, according to Hopper lead economist Hayley Berg. Similarly, large numbers of travelers are also expected for the December holidays.

National, Enterprise Extend Some Loyalty Benefits (Source: Business Travel News)
National Car Rental is extending certain loyalty benefits that are set to expire soon, parent company Enterprise Holdings announced Wednesday.  The free rental days in National’s Emerald Club program that were set to expire on Dec. 31, 2022, will roll over to Sept. 4, 2023, according to the company. National also has extended elite-tier status for qualifying members. Emerald Club Executive and Executive Elite members with status set to expire Feb. 28, 2023, can extend it by one year if they make or have already made at least one qualifying rental by the end of 2022.
