Frontier Airlines To Begin Charging For Carry-On Bags

Frontier Airlines announced it will begin charging for carry-on bags placed in the overhead bin and for advance seat assignments for tickets purchased on or after April 28, 2014.  Frontier says that in exchange for these new fees, it is lowering its base fare by 12%.

The fee to place a carry-on in the overhead bin will range from $20 for frequent travelers to $50 for those who fail to pay before getting to the gate.  Most passengers will pay $25 if they check-in online, or $35 if they check-in at the airport.

These new charges are in addition to checked baggage fees, pre-assigned seating fees, and refreshment charges.
