SAP Concur Introducing Mandatory Two-Factor Authentication

Beginning October 18, 2023, SAP Concur is implementing a security upgrade that requires two-factor authentication (2FA) for those using basic login authentication (username and password) when accessing concursolutions.com on web or mobile.  Users that access Concur Travel via Single Sign-On (SSO) will not be impacted by the new 2FA requirements.

Users will be required to have an authenticator app on their phone or via browser extension.  After successful registration, users will be prompted to enter a 6-digit code generated by their authenticator app.  This process will be in place for all subsequent logins.  Concur suggests the following authenticator apps: Twilio Authy Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Microsoft Authenticator, and Google Authenticator.  If a user does not have a mobile phone or does not want to download an authenticator app, they can use an authenticator app on their browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

What is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a specific type of multi-factor authentication (MFA) that strengthens access security by requiring two methods (also referred to as authentication factors) to verify your identity. These factors can include something you know — like a username and password — plus something you have — like a smartphone app — to approve authentication requests.   2FA protects against phishing, social engineering and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials.
