Alaska Airlines’ parent company cut the carrier’s capacity outlook for the first half of 2022 due to “volatile” fuel prices “as a result of the conflict in Europe and Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine,” according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Southwest Airlines is moving ahead with the planning and design of seven new gates for domestic travel at the William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas provided by a $20 million allocation approved unanimously by the Houston City Council. Construction of the gates is expected to take five years.

The Transportation Security Administration is extending the mask mandate on public transportation until April 18, according to a White House official and a TSA official. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will work with government agencies to help inform a revised policy framework for when the mask rules can be lifted during this time, said the White House official.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s new International Arrivals Facility is nearly ready and will open in the spring once it is fully tested and employees are trained. The facility will reduce connection times for passengers, streamline the customs process and accommodate double the arrival capacity to 2,600 passengers an hour.
