Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said the airline sees no slowdown in travel demand, but is still tempering expansion plans to ensure reliability. “We want to make sure we don’t outrun our capabilities,” Bastian told CNBC.

United announced it will expand the number of international routes this summer in response to a sharp increase in demand for travel outside of the U.S. “With unprecedented demand for travel overseas, we’ll have more service to popular cities while also adding new and unique destinations for customers to explore,” said Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances.

Spurred in part by the city’s plans to host the Olympic Games in 2028, Los Angeles International Airport is spending $30 billion on upgrades including new lounge areas, check-in facilities, baggage areas, restaurants and car rental hub. Initial projects include 8 miles of new roads and 2.25 miles of automated electric train tails.

IHG Hotels & Resorts will open the doors of the new InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace this May.  Housed within a neo-Renaissance-style building dating back to 1900, the 160-room hotel is located in downtown Rome, situated along the city’s famous Via Veneto.

Proposal Would Add 2% Fee To Richmond, VA, Hotel Bills (Source: WWBT-TV)
A 2% assessment will be added to hotels in the Richmond, Va., area with a minimum of 41 rooms if the proposal by Richmond Region Tourism is approved by several jurisdictions. Richmond Region Tourism CEO and President Jack Berry says money from the fee would be earmarked to bring more visitors to the area and offer larger events.
