Marriott Introduces 48 Hour Cancellation Policy

Marriott Corporation announced it is increasing the minimum standard cancellation deadline from 24 to 48 hours for reservations made on/after June 15, 2017 for properties in US, Canada, Caribbean, and Latin America.  If a booking isn’t cancelled prior to this time, travelers will be charged a fee equal to one night room rate plus any taxes and fees.

Limited exceptions will be made for Platinum members, weather-related disruption, and at the hotel’s discretion.  Additionally, contracted corporate rates with their own cancellation policy will not see a change in 2017.  However, changes to the corporate agreements could be seen in the 2018 pricing season.  Group cancellation policies are based on the group reservation contract.
