United Airlines Increases Baggage Fees

United Airlines announced August 31 it will increase its checked bag fees effective immediately.  United becomes the first U.S. legacy carrier to match JetBlue, Air Canada and WestJet who increased their baggage fees last week.  First-checked bags will increase from $25 to $30; second-checked bags will increase from $35 to $40.

Each carrier’s baggage policy is slightly different and varies by region (i.e., US, Mexico, Canada, Central America, etc.) – please refer to each carrier’s website for details.

Complimentary first and/or second checked bags will still apply for Mileage Plus Premier members and MileagePlus credit card holders.
